Common Situations when People need Help
Many people fall on hard times and
don't know what to do. While there are a lot of help sources
out there, it takes knowledge to know where to look and what to
do. Unfortunately, most of the real help organizations are
non profits and therefore do not have the power of marketing
that the for profit companies have and cannot reach enough
needy people to let them know that there is real help out
there.
Posting on the Internet for help
When people are desperate and don't know
what to do, they often turn to the Internet nowadays and they
ask for help on different forums or any classified public
boards that would let them post about what they need.
Unfortunately there are many postings online already by
supposedly needy people. Alot of the posts are by people who
are just looking for handouts and are not really needy at all.
It is unfortunate for folks that really do need help because
although there are kind hearted people out there willing to
help, they are already conned and scammed by these unscrupulous
posters.
Be prepared for negative comments
If you are posting on community sites such
as Craigslist then expect to have a lot of negative comments
flooded your way when you pour your heart out on there. Why?
Because Craigslist users are often bombarded with people asking
for handouts so even if you are really telling the truth,
people are often skeptical and untrusting until you have proven
to them that your situation is as bad as you say it is. If you
choose to post on those public sites then be prepared for
negative feedbacks, nasty and rude comments.
Hand Up vs Handout
When asking for help, you can either looking
for a handout or a hand up. Of course, most people are looking
for a handout even when they say they are not. Imagine, if you
fall on hard times and someone flat out hands over $1,000 to
you, would you accept it? Would you prefer it to if they say
"here is $1,000 and you are my slave for the next week?" Of
course, the $1,000 handout is the best but if you have to work
for it, then most people would wish that they would have to do
something small such as light cleaning instead of something
hard such as heavy cleaning.
So, online you will see alot of people
already looking for handouts claiming to be on hard times in
different ways. It is more rare that people are actually
looking for a hand up or a way to work and earn honest income.
Most people don't want to work hard or work for a long time to
earn a small amount of money. Not these days.
